When land meets sea we get a surf and turf burger!
Shrimp tossed in a spicy garlic butter sauce, on top of pepper jack cheese, a juicy ripe creole tomato, beef patty perfectly seasoned just right, sitting on top of a bed of shredded lettuce. With this recipe I made 8 of these juicy burgers, and I’ll tell you they were top shelf in flavor!
The first time I experienced a shrimp burger was a couple years ago in 2014. I was working on canal st in downtown New Orleans. The upside of the situation was working downtown in New Orleans, and the down side, well was working downtown in New Orleans! I can say I definitely ate my fair share of food working in that area with restaurants galore. Well this particular restaurant was this really small tucked away shack, that if you blinked you would miss it. It was right on the out skirts of the city and the size of a tiny bedroom. Needless to say we ordered shrimp burgers and I haven’t looked back since!
The burger from the small burger shack was stuffed with shrimp instead of topped with shrimp. The stuffed burger was absolutely heaven, so of course, being the foodie that I am, I had to try to replicate those flavors at home. Although this isn’t a stuffed shrimp burger, it inspired me to unstuff the burger and top it with shrimp instead to give it a different dynamic. I have made the burgers stuffed with shrimp and really enjoyed the outcome. I’m sure I will get back around to making it and sharing the recipe with you all. In the meantime, you have to try these burgers! Hope you enjoy!
