Southern Fried Catfish

  • 2-3 lb Catfish Filet
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Old Bay
  • 1/4 Cup Flour
  • 1 Cup Fine Ground Corn Meal
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • Vegetable Oil


  1. Cut Filets into 3-4 in chunks and Season with Salt and Pepper to taste, 1 tbsp old bay, 1 tsp mustard, 1 whole egg

  2. Season flour and corn meal mixture with 1 tsp of old bay seasoning blend. 

  3. Dredge fish in dry mixture then fry in well heated oil for atleast 4 mins per side.

  4. Remove from oil and allow to dry on a baking rack. This will help the fish maintain a light and crispy exterior.

  5. Fry fish in batches as to not overfill the skillet. It may take 2-3 batches depending on the size of your skillet. 

  6. Serve Hot with your choice of sides and a squeeze of lemon
